Silence Can Mean So Much

I have come to realize recently (actually about two minutes ago) that the reason that this bastard doesn’t get updated very much is that I have a problem making the most out of the mundane. It’s not that I don’t find the beauty in the simplicity. It’s just that it’s a bitch trying to make it interesting enough to want to blog about.
It’s true, there’s plenty going on in this life ‘o mine. As a matter of fact after twelve years of downloading music and movies and TV (oh my) I just received my first ‘Cease and Desist’ letter. Yes sir. I am now one of the tagged.
“I’m sorry officer, I didn’t know it was illegal.” *wink wink*
So suffice it to say that’s the end of my pirating reign. *wink wink* I hope there is someone to fill the void on the high seas of digital freedom.
It was the wife’s fault though, she had to have the Big Love. Needed. The Big Love. God polygamy. Gotta Love It. Although I don’t see how any friggin’ guy with even a fracture of sanity would even think that that would be a good idea. I mean shit I can barely handle one wife. Throw in one or two…maybe even three more. Make me an appointment with Dr.s Smith and Wesson. Oh how I jest.
Well this was nice. In between the monotony of Drywall and Paint. The haze of Sanding and Electrical. The trimming and staining and crying, I’ll see if I can bring myself to accept the fact that if I just look hard enough, I can make up some bullshit about anything.

Pilgrim/Indian Day

So alas the Holiday Season is ready to steam roller over our stomachs, wallets and sanity yet again and with the first of a few ‘special days’ only a couple turns of the clock away I figured I would devote a little space to smile and give thanks.
There are only a handful of days where a person really likes to sit back and take stock of the world surrounding them and I guess for me this is one of ‘em. Right before the chaos and mayhem of the Consumer-Days really kick into high gear. About ninety percent of these 365 days a year I’d consider myself somewhat of a cynical prick. Yup. A sad bastard, bitching and complaining and pretending to be a miserable sack of shit. Truth of the matter is I have a lot to be thankful for. I’ll try and give a short glimpse into my Smiling Bob attitude.
-No inoperable diseases (including venereal) -A baby on the way which (after our recent ultra sound) has been confirmed to have ten fingers ten toes two arms two legs and a regular sized head -A steady job with a steady paycheck and a steady source of money for a steady source of booze -Cigarettes -Predictability -Spontaneity-Free shit -A wife who doesn’t piss me off on a regular basis -Friends I can count on (whether in a positive way or not) -No jilted ex-lovers looking to put a .22 bullet in my brain -Good vision -A coupla stupid dogs (who won’t let me walk through my own goddamn house interrupted -A library card (with newly paid off late fees) and -Brownies
The list is probably longer and there’s most likely plenty of things I have neglected to even think about, but I’ll be contented in the fact that I even gave this shit and time in my head.
I suppose we all need to take the time to look at the bright side. To measure our lives in the good things, not just the bad. Relish the silver lining.

Travis’ annual Post

So it’s official: I am completely neglecting anything having to do with this site.
True I did just renew my domain name and hosting service. So I guess that’s something.
It’s a couple of months shy of a year since I updated this thing and as excuses go I guess I have many. I won’t list them, even though most of the time the excuses make me feel much better about myself.
The writing has been on hiatus as of late but since the last time I posted there have been some life milestones, which if you ask me are worth their weight in Euros. Ups and downs and smiles and cries aplenty. A one year marriage anniversary, a financial burst, and a miscarried son or daughter. Smiles and Cries.
Mostly good times with one bad time mixed into sour the batch. But fret not True Believers. My beautiful wife is due with our first child come March. Exciting. Besides the fact that I am scared if the child’s a boy she will want to name him Toopweets, an off the wall name found deep in the epitome of a baby name book (cause for laughter, but brought up a few too many times for comfort).
Life’s a funny thing. I could say it keeps getting better, but I’d settle for it keeps getting more and more interesting.
